This page is in honor of three wonderful women in my life… my Grandmother, who this is named after, my Mom, and my Aunt.
Many childhood memories were made around the big, old wood stove that took up a quarter of my Grandmother’s kitchen. That stove not only heated the whole house, but it gave us many wonderful meals.
During the holidays your mouth would water as soon as you stepped into the house from the smells that hit your senses. The turkey was roasting, golden and delicious. Steamed pudding and Christmas cookies were always a hit. Nanna’s special home baked beans were a favorite every Saturday evening in Fall and Winter.
You could sense the love and care she put into everything she did for her family. These are great memories.
Many of the recipes that follow are old-fashioned recipes and remedies that came from my Mom, Grandmother, and Aunt’s collections. Some are winners and others… not so much.
So… why not try something that has been passed down from other generations. The steamed pudding was always one of my favorites.
